From a very early age I have always had a love for drawing and painting. Between watching Art Attack and borrowing every craft book from the library, you would find me creating and playing with crayons, paper, and glue. This is where I learned about myself and where I felt most comfortable.
In addition to developing my creative expression, I learned another great lesson very young: that there was more to the world than the small town I grew up in. My parents made sure that my brother and I understood the value and gift of travelling. Family vacations were a regular occurrence and my world was wide open. The travel bug bit me hard. After studying fine art at OCAD University and Interior Decorating at Humber College, I went on a 2 and half month backpacking adventure through Europe and Iceland. These experiences shaped and influenced my life and artistic style in more ways than I could have ever imagined. Shortly after, I moved to Calgary to explore the great Rocky Mountains and pacific landscapes of Canada. They did not disappoint. Today I find myself back in Toronto, creating pieces to inspire travel in others and keep my own memories alive. The world is a big beautiful place and I hope my artwork shows you that it's waiting for you to explore it. xo Monique |
